"Maintenance"

About: Perth Children's Hospital / Ward 5A - Mental Health

(as a parent/guardian),

Visited my child on 5A recently and was amazed to find out me and my child couldn’t go onto the balcony due to the fact that 5A is a mental health ward. I also happened to look across at another part of PCH and I noticed there were a lot of weeds on one of the rooftop gardens there.

I know a lot of money was spent on this hospital and the rooftop gardens were a fantastic idea but since opening, I feel they have been let go and if they wanted the garden there in the first place then they should maintain it to an exceptional standard in my opinion.

Dear beidjd55,

Thank you for providing feedback on the balconies outside Ward 5A and the other wards within Perth Children's Hospital (PCH).

Unfortunately, maintenance on the outdoor spaces has not been as regular as it should be, the weeds will now be removed with more focus on this space from our grounds and gardens team.

The plants outside 5A are also not in great condition due to the retic being damaged, this has now been fixed.

I am pleased to say our infrastructure team are working on redesigning the courtyard space to be more suitable for children on 5A.

If you have any further queries relating to this please contact me via email at danny.rogers@health.wa.gov.au or via phone at 6456 5253.

Kind regards,

Danny Rogers
