"Exceptional Care of a Immunosuppressed child."

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My young child, who is a kidney transplant recipient, presented to the Geraldton Regional Hospital with an unexplained fever.

I spoke to the Triage Nurse explaining the situation and due to my child being immunocompromised, we were quickly moved into an available consultation room to protect them from further viral infections.

My child was seen by a lovely doctor and caring nurses who were very thorough with the investigations and also contacted my child's paediatrician to make them aware of what was happening and handed over care to them. The care my child has received at this hospital has been exceptional every time in my opinion, from the Emergency Department team, right through to the nurses on the Children's Ward.

I believe we are also very lucky to have such wonderful and caring paediatricians who work very hard to deliver the best care for their patients.   Keep up the great work Geraldton Regional hospital, thank you all for everything you guys do.

Dear Kidneykidmom,

Thank you for taking time to write to us on Patient Opinion to share your compliment about the service at Geraldton Hospital, we greatly value all feedback as it demonstrates how we are meeting the needs of our diverse country community, including those people with very specific needs, like transplant recipients. Our staff do care deeply about the people in our care and it will be my pleasure to pass on your feedback to them.

It was fantastic to read that you and your child were well supported on your most recent visit to our Emergency Department, having been made to feel welcome and safe and that every time you have presented the care has been exceptional in all departments.

I hope your child is feeling better after their fever.

Kind Regards

Liz
