I made some bad choices in the past and due to this, child safety got involved. I lost one of my children from my care and almost lost my other child.
I was misusing drugs and had a substance abuse problem. I was disappointed in myself and suffering depression, dealing with a marriage break down and used drugs to cope. I hit rock bottom.
I had used Lives Lived Well in the past for guidance and support and made the decision to reengage in their support and services. A lady named Jenny from the Gold Coast service attended my residence. She and her organisation were great and wonderful to work with, in my opinion. Jenny helped me and supported me in many ways over the last nine months until recently.
Jenny linked me in with multiple support groups to help me throughout my hard times. She linked me in with QuIHN, which I attended and completed a couple of their programs to better myself. Also, the Better Fathers Program, which I'm halfway through at present.
I have learned and continue to learn to better my self as a person and parent, which I'm grateful for. Throughout my court process to gain my child back, Jenny was so supportive, helpful and was there for me. I believe because of her linking me into multiple programs to better myself and Lives Lived Well's help, I got the outcome I was requesting.
I will continue to complete the remainder of the programs and strive to have my child back not long after.
I pass my drug tests for child safety and now no longer find the need to use. I'm so much stronger, I no longer need medication and no longer suffer from depression. I'm proud of who I am and where I came from and can't wait to have my child back home.
Without Jenny and her team from lives Lived Well Gold Coast, I believe it would have been a lot harder for me to become the person and parent my children deserve.
Thank you Lives Lived Well and Jenny in particular.
