About: Wallsend Manor Aged Care

(as a carer),

Three weeks have passed since I contacted the Wallsend Manor Aged Care with no response from them other than them taking my name and mobile number in order to have someone call me back with an answer to my question, "I would like to place my parent in Residential Respite Care for a minimum of 4 weeks. Do you offer Respite Care and if so are there any vacancies?"

Exactly 1 week later I called back again and got the same response so I sent a detailed email several hours later to the persons' named on the web page,  with referral codes and scanned copies of incomes & assets statement, power of attorney and enduring guardian documents.

A further week had passed and no reply. I called again and I was asked for my details and that someone would call me back but I explained to them that I had heard it twice before and I explained my endeavours to have someone call me back so that I can know if there are vacancies or to look elsewhere. I told them that I have a very good friend that is a resident there and I have heard good reports from different care-workers of this particular aged care service and I would like to see if it will be good for my parent.

The lady that I spoke to was very courteous and spoke with empathy (so I would like to mention her by name, Melissa). I told her that I needed assistants, please. She assured me that she would take my details to management immediately and she apologised that no one had called me back. However, the week was nearly over and I still had not heard from anyone, so I went on to their website and I clicked on the send an inquiry link and I detailed in what was required and that I had not heard from anyone, however, a couple of days passed and still no response from them.

What is going on? And please don't bother because I am now sorry that I lost my time I cannot get back and I hope as a result, I have not lost out on other vacancies that may have been open at the time.

How is this acceptable? ... All I wanted to know was if you offered Residential Respite Care and if you had a vacancy for my parent for a minimum of 4 weeks.
