"Hygiene practices"

About: PathWest Joondalup Collection Centre

(as the patient),

I went for a blood/urine test recently, as I normally do, I bring a bottle of water with me as I had to do the urine test. I asked the staff member if I could leave the bottle where we were (where the blood test happened). I felt they rudely said no, I had to take it with me into the toilet.

I’m sorry, but in my opinion, that’s unhygienic and I believe that’s against what all phlebotomists do. I would feel better if I don’t attend any Path West clinics again.

Dear beidjd55,

Thank you for letting us know about your experience at our Joondalup collection centre. I am sorry that you felt you were dealt with rudely. I understand from our collectors that there was another client requiring the collection area you were vacating, and hence the advice that you were unable to leave your water bottle there.

I apologise that you were not given an alternative location where you were able to leave your personal belongings, and will address this with our staff. I do hope you continue to consider us when you require pathology testing in the future.

Kind regards

Thanks for your prompt response Tracy.

To tell you the truth there were no other clients there. It was dead quiet on the day I attended.
