Recently my spouse was involved in a motor vehicle accident and was transferred to Geraldton Regional Hospital.
My spouse was triaged immediately and comprehensively assessed; within 4 hours they were to be informed of all of their injuries and potential outcomes. There were numerous x-rays and CT Scans conducted with outcomes provided back to my spouse, including pictures of the x-rays so that they could understand the breakages that occurred.
There was extensive liaison with the Orthopaedic Team at RPH with updates continuously provided. By the time I went home, we had both been provided with refreshments (I was very grateful, as a spouse, I did not expect this) and knowing that they would be transferred to Perth sometime the next day.
St John Ambulance were brilliant at the scene of the incident, stabilising my spouse and providing adequate pain relief and care when transferring them. At all times there was comprehensive handover as well.
