"My stay in RPH and subsequent liver cancer diagnosis"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Acute Surgical Ward 6G Royal Perth Hospital / Radiotherapy Cancer Treatment Silver Chain

(as the patient),

I fell ill suddenly and I fronted at Emergency where the triage nurse identified that I was jaundice and had liver duct blockages.

From that moment and the remaining 33 days I spent in Royal Perth Hospital, I felt I was cared for way beyond my expectations. All the nurses in Ward 6G deserve medals and my doctors, Emma and Matt, were there daily for me.

Unfortunately, the outcome is not as good as I would have hoped - I have in-operable liver cancer, so I am now off to Oncology at Fiona Stanley for chemo.

At home, I have had Silver Chain come along and do my dressings, once again, what great service - it is so good to be in WA. I feel we have a great health system.

Thanks everyone who was involved in my care I appreciate it.

Dear travellerdn36,

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It is so kind of you at this difficult time to take time to thank our staff for their care and treatment. I am proud to work with this team of staff who have cared for you beyond your expectations and I have passed on your kind words of appreciation to the teams and in particular to the doctors and nurses on 6G.

I sincerely wish you well with your chemotherapy treatment plan.

Dr Lesley Bennett
