"Out of date COVID advice"

About: Denmark Health Service / Emergency Department Denmark Health Service / Support Services

(as a parent/guardian),

I came in with my toddler who has a history of bronchiolitis and also had extensive lung surgery last year.

They have had a cough for the past week and I wanted to get them tested for COVID-19.

Sadly I was met with fortnight's old advice and was told because my child hadn't been overseas, been near someone who had been overseas and had no temperature they didn't fit the criteria.

Because of my child's history I take their respiratory health very seriously.

I really hope there is more daily training and more daily staff updates on the current advice.

Dear cepheusnr68,

Thank you very much for taking the time to tell us about your experience. I am very sorry that you were unable to have your child tested for COVID-19 and I can imagine the distress and anxiety this must have caused you.

As you also contacted us directly by email I understand that you have received a reply email from our Regional Medical Director, Dr Paddy Glackin. Please do not hesitate to contact him if you have any further questions or concerns.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Ceinwen Gearon
