"Delays in IVF post reinstatement of elective surgery"

About: The Royal Women's Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

Getting mentally ready for everything involved with IVF is challenging in itself. Trying to reduce stress is essential. To pay the money and then find out that actually only 25% of activity in elective surgery is currently going ahead and you need to wait to find out if you qualify is devastating.

I believe this needs to be made more public and what this means for patients. Furthermore, how is this calculated across the hospital, as not all elective surgeries have commenced so this should not mean it is only 25% per department and/or procedure?

The nursing staff who are having to deliver these messages because of poor overall communication, in my opinion, is also wrong - especially when they can give no real explanation as to why this is the case (other than hospital directive, which, in my opinion, sounds pretty unclear).

It feels like government and I believe, in part, hospital management, have forgotten the patients during this time.
