"Complications after wasp sting"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

After developing cellulitis in my left arm after a wasp sting, I presented to the Emergency Department with a swollen arm and significant pain to get relief.

I was very quickly triaged and taken to a cubicle for treatment. All the staff from the clerks, nurses and doctors were very diligent, in my opinion, regarding my care and treatment.

After a few hours of my arm being elevated (which was a great improvisation with a pillowcase) and being on antibiotics, my arm had started to settle down. I was then admitted to the ward overnight. The professionalism shown on my recent visit was outstanding and I thank you all for my care.

Dear rainbd83,

Ouch! Wasp Bites can be very painful! It sounds like you got to the Emergency Department in good time and we were able to settle things down. I know the ED and Ward staff will be really chuffed to see your lovely feedback - thanks for taking the time to let them know your experience. I hope you manage to avoid the wasps in the future.

Kind Regards,

Jan
