As a caregiver myself, being admitted as a patient can be fearful as we at times know too much.
I was admitted to Esperance hospital 2 weeks after arriving in town from working away from home. I presented the staff with a challenge of having a tropical disease down South.
I have found all the staff here, Doctors, Nurses, PCAs, kitchen, A&E, Radiology have all been so caring and welcoming. Knowing that I am a caregiver they don't assume I am knowing about my treatment and come and explain this to me.
The meals have all been fantastic, I am looking forward to a cooked breakfast when I go home. That is my only negative feedback about the meals. In my opinion, the breakfast choices after a week were getting mundane.
The one thing I don't like is that all doors are swipe or code access by staff outside of visiting hours. During reduced hours because of COVID, I feel this made it very difficult to go for walks outside without disturbing busy nurses to access you out. Also if there was an emergency even at night how do patients safely exit?
