"Positive Birth Program"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

Whilst I was pregnant, my partner and I attended the Positive Birth Program at Bunbury Regional Hospital with an amazing midwife named Kasey. Kasey taught us a number of tools and techniques to birth calmly in order to make our baby's birth a positive experience for both myself and them.

Throughout our pregnancy journey, we came to realise how society (and, we believe, even some medical staff) depict birth to be both dramatic and painful. We learnt how medicalised birth had become and although I do believe that there is a place for intervention, I feel there is definitely a pressure to intervene when it is not always necessary, a pressure that we even experienced ourselves.

I'd like to thank Kasey for literally changing our lives. The Positive Birth Program helped us to have such a positive experience antenatally, during labour and postnatally. We are so thankful that despite being classed as 'high risk' and delivering at another hospital, the birth of our baby was such a positive and empowering experience.

Dear normaex85,

I am pleased that you had the opportunity to attend the Positive birth program. And more so, that they had the desired effect and positive benefits for you and your birth.

We are very fortunate that are able to provide these exciting classes, and Kasey’s dynamic knowledge and passion have played a huge role in that.

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback, as I am sure that you have your hands full looking after a new baby in the house. I wish you and your family all the best for your future ahead and I am sure that the tools learnt during the classes will continue to be useful as you navigate the next chapter in your journey. Take care.

Katrina Jones,

Clinical Midwifery Manager, Bunbury Maternity
