"Maroondah Hospital Emergency Care"

(as a relative),

My spouse experienced chest pain and we drove to Maroondah Hospital emergency to have my spouse seen. 

The intake nurse at the front desk was kind and professional and quick - it was a younger staff member. She was great. The nurse inside ED was also kind and professional, both looking after myself and my spouse - offering tea, but, we felt, also managing the typical nursing duties as expected.  

When we met the doctor on duty, he was polite, but to the point in a way that was respectful.  He was normalising a stress response, without coming across as flippant.  We discussed ongoing care, discussed pressures in life and how to manage these.  He was respectful of the balance between understanding the emotional and physical reactions involved in the presentation. 

Overall, we had a very impressive experience with kind and professional and knowledgeable staff.

I was so pleased to read your positive experience was a clear demonstration of the Eastern Health values of Patients First, Kindness, Respect, Excellence, Agility and Humility.

I trust your spouse has returned to the best of health. It will give me great pleasure to share your comments with the Director and Manager of the Emergency Department so they can see first hand the efforts of the medical and nursing staff, all of whom do an incredible job.
