"New toilets"

About: Geraldton Hospital

(as a service user),

The toilets in the Allied Health Corridor at Geraldton Hospital have had new electric doors put on them that I feel are so hard to use. They take a long time to close and they don't seem to lock correctly. I believe staff always seem to be having to help people use them. In my opinion, people get put off using them because they are so confusing!

Dear conditionerzs55,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion. I am sorry to hear about your experience using the electric toilet doors in the allied health corridor and have passed on your feedback to our Disability Access and Inclusion committee. Following your feedback, they will be undertaking a review to see if any improvements can be made to the operation of the toilet doors to ensure they are accessible and easy to use for all consumers. We have also asked our facilities team to review the locking mechanisms to ensure that they work correctly.

We would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this with you further. Please contact Derek Fraser who is the Operations Manager Geraldton Hospital on 9956 2369 or at derek.fraser@health.wa.gov.au. Please also feel free to contact me, Liz Kelly, on 9956 8724 or at liz.kelly@health.wa.gov.au. Once the Disability Access and Inclusion committee have undertaken a review we will update you as to the outcome.

Thank you again for sharing your experience, your feedback is important and will be used to improve our service.

We hope to hear from you soon.
