There are honestly not enough words to thank Sandra - WACHS Southwest Collie's Palliative Care Nurse. From our time of diagnosis and eventual referral she was waiting in the wings. And for several months she has been nothing short of amazing and invaluable. Her knowledge is vast in my opinion, and her communication skills are excellent, actively listening but also preparing you for what lies ahead, gently imparting things you may not want to hear, but actually need to hear. Her compassion and strength are immeasurable.
She was a huge help both practically as well as emotionally, to not only my beautiful spouse and self but our entire family. She cops you at your worst and takes it in her stride, and encourages you with the best she sees and feels privileged to be a part of. We are in awe of her and so genuinely grateful for all her efforts, care, concern and support. And I feel she obviously works hard at her working relationships in A&E and the Hospital's General Ward - which we had to access many times after hours & on weekends. Once you are on this damn Cancer train I feel there is no getting off, and it certainly does not run 8-4 Monday to Friday. I have heard from many others that Sandra is equally committed to those who are in Palliative Care for years, every one's journey is so unique and how she copes with them all is amazing in my opinion. I believe Collie is so lucky to have her, we will certainly remember her for the rest of our lives, thank you so much Sandra, take care.
"A truly amazing staff member"
