"My recovery at Logan Family Recovery"

About: Lives Lived Well - Logan Family Recovery

(as a service user),

In the beginning, I was nervous. The drive up here I was anxious to a point I was sick to my stomach. I was heavily pregnant and overdue, not even knowing if our baby was going to be able to leave the hospital with me and my partner.

We left the hospital with our little baby and came straight back to our unit to make it feel more like home and settle in. Program and routine were easy to get into and staff were super supportive with anything we needed. I learned about the different processes and stages of emotions, relapse and coping strategies.

The units are comfy and feel like home. We are able to live independently and have a safe space to return to in between program requirements.

We now get to go home with our little baby and be a family and start to implement everything we have learned in the program. Being a part of this program is also the first step in getting our other children back in our care.

Hello dar-b,

Thank you for posting your story. I can see this story is not just about your own personal journey. It involves the birth of a new baby, with no certainty that you would be able to mother the baby, and also includes your partner. Your nerves and anxiety are very understandable and I can only imagine what it must have been like. What a courageous step by both yourself and your partner.

It is great that the unit at Lives Lived Well's Logan Family Recovery was comfortable and a refuge that felt like home. That it was a place where you were able to establish a routine to care for your baby and attend the sessions of the program and receive the support staff were able to give to you. The learnings you have spoken about sound like they are the basis of a plan you now have for your return home. It also gives you hope and the skills to develop a way of living that will lead to you getting your other children back into your care. It is a big journey you are on and thank you for sharing it.

Finally and most importantly, congratulations on the birth of your new baby. I wish you, your partner and your family all the best for the future.

Warm regards,

Gerard
