I believe nowhere in Australia would my spouse have received better care than at Collie District Hospital (CDH) and the GPs & their Staff at Collie River. Having worked throughout Australia for over 20 years, in several Tertiary and Rural hospitals, this experience has reassured me immensely - because just as my amazing spouse knew, I also know with 100% certainty - that nowhere else could have done more or provided a higher quality of care than CDH did.
Several months ago my spouse's numb tingly foot revealed itself to be Brain Mets, from a lung cancer primary. While another hospital diagnosed this, I believe it was CDH and the incredible Dr Shanker who cared for us every day forward. I felt Dr Shanker enabled urgent Neurosurgery - where the other hospital couldn't. Thank you also to the amazing Dr Mark from SJOG Subiaco.
There are simply not enough words to thank CDH and every single staff member up there - from excellent nursing in A&E, the brilliant NP that is Peter, wonderful General Ward staff, Support Services, Allied Health, Pathology, Palliative Care, to Management - NUM Paige and DON Lucy - for their undivided care and attention, professionalism and humanity, throughout this torturous 7-month journey.
My spouse was sincerely grateful to you all, and I will be forever in your debt.
My parents from interstate were with us in Collie both post-op late last year and for the last several weeks, are still in complete awe of Collie and its Health Service, as well as the greater little Community that we are.
This has been life-changing, and I believe you all helped make it bearable.
Sincerely, thank you from the bottom of my heart, look after each other.
