"Speed humps"

About: Busselton Health Campus

(as the patient),

Speed bumps were installed several months ago, Very many people complained I believe, all but 1 speed hump were removed. As I have had 2 spinal operations and are very sensitive to any road imperfections (speed bumps) I complained to country health and BSN hospital. After a period all but 1 hump were removed. I complained to hospital again. Now I find that 2x humps have been replaced. (total of 3) and I am in the same situation as before.

Mentioned this to reception, and were told that the new administrator has had these humps replaced. I feel they have many other things, much more important to attend to and rectify. I will be parking in the side of entrance road and phoning for a wheelchair & orderly to take me into the hospital and return me to my car. I don't see them getting out of their office to attend to this but I may be surprised. I feel all staff I have spoken to are up in arms about this issue as well, I believe not one has agreed with this damaging and totally stupid decision from an incompetent administrator in my opinion.

Dear chamaeleonwm37,

Thank you for taking the time to post to Care Opinion. The hospital previously received feedback similar to yours and although the speed humps were compliant to Australian Standards they were removed and a lower, less jarring option has been installed to mitigate the risk to pedestrians at the campus.

It was hoped that during the removal, the additional speed limit signage may have led to lower speeds being seen. Unfortunately, that does not appear to be the case and the decision to reinstall the speed humps was made. That said, we are very sorry for the inconvenience and discomfort caused to you and your family. I would be happy to discuss alternatives that could be investigated with you, please call on 9753 6372 when suitable.

Sincerely,

Dan Anderson
