"Caring for my parent"

About: Central Gippsland Health

(as a carer),

A few weeks ago my parent was advised they would be able to receive their long-awaited eye surgery. This excited the family greatly. But then COVID-19 happened. How are we to care for my parent who lives on their own in East Gippsland. They wouldn't be able to drive home and needed overnight care after the surgery, and family who could assist live a few hours away. Then they went into lockdown. Not wanting to cancel surgery we made a query to Central Gippsland Health for assistance.

We then got in touch with Jo from Patient Services, who immediately started the enormous task of how best to help. With phone calls, multiple emails, resource reveiws and perseverance a plan was formed for myself to be able to travel to my parent to assist. Jo has gone above and beyond what we expected, even in these troubling times. Which eased our minds and made the process so easy. Thank you Jo for your attention to detail and fulfilling a promise.
