My life has descended into self-medication with alcohol and marijuana to combat my mental health condition. I had a year in recovery from alcohol and marijuana use and unfortunately fell into relapse for about two years after the first attempt. I believe that my environmental triggers and the death of a couple of my close friends due to addiction have triggered my relapse.
I feel very fortunate to have found out about LLW services. I then proceeded to get involved with the service in the Day Program at Wooloongabba. Whilst there I came to the realisation that I needed more support.
I was referred to Logan House and have completed the 6 weeks treatment. While at Logan house I was able to regain my physical health and have been able to reset my focus on recovery and a healthy lifestyle.
I found the groups to be very informative and have learned about my triggers and have gained new coping skills.
I found the staff very supportive and my treatment facilitator to be very understanding and kind. Considering my mental condition, I was very supported by my treatment Facilitator Branka at Logan House and Jess at the Day program I firstly attended.
I feel due to the support I received I have a second chance in life and I am more confident that I will be able to continue on this path called recovery.
Once again I am very regretful to Branka and Jess for all the support they provided and the understanding they gave to me due to my Aspergers.
I would strongly recommend this program and would encourage people with mental health issues to not let that stopped them from receiving the support they need.
