"Constant, regular and loving care"

About: Kirkbrae Presbyterian Homes Aged Care

(as a relative),

We struggled for 8 months to care for our mother at home. She has dementia, heart problems, diabetes and various other health issues.

After our father passed away, Mum refused to have a shower and I could get no help from anyone because she refused. Early last year, she had a turn and had to be admitted to hospital. From there she went to Kirkbrae. At that stage she was unable to get out of bed without the help of a machine and among other things, was unable to feed herself.

She literally 'came alive' with their constant, regular and loving care so that she was walking around, feeding herself and even joining in with different activities.

Kirkbrae contacted me with every slight change in Mum's condition. Because of the lock downs during Covid we were unable to visit her, but when we did we noticed a change - she was not talking much or eating or drinking much either. I believe this was because of the dementia and the fact that she did not see us every day - as she had been doing. During this Covid 'attack' at Kirkbrae, they have been in constant contact with me. I can't recommend them highly enough.
