"Doctor care"

About: Armadale Hospital / Medical Admissions Unit

(as the patient),

I would like to thank the nurses who look after me when I was in hospital, Sharene and student Nurse Ida. They did an excellent job, I feel especially for Ida considering she's only a student.

The doctor who look after me when I arrived is excellent but the only thing is they confirmed to me is that I'll be going to a different hospital to do angiography procedure the next day. I believe the doctor should just be honest with me that only if that hospital is not busy I can get in.

The doctor who comes in that night didn't seem to have any enthusiasm at all. In my opinion, they don't want to be there at all, and I believe the doctor that came in the next was worst and terrible and kept telling me only if you have hospital cover if you want this done straight away.

Dear microscopiumwz38,

Thank you for writing to us and sharing your experience in the Medical Admissions Unit at Armadale Hospital.

Firstly, I am very sorry and disappointed to hear about your experience especially regarding the attitude of the doctors who attended to you. As a hospital, we strive to provide the best possible health care with professionalism and respect and this can only happen when we take the time to listen and engage with our patients. I can assure you that your feedback is being treated with all due consideration.

I also share your concern that following your admission you were left with the impression that some of our staff did not appear to want to be there. Our team in the Medical Admission Unit are committed to providing quality and compassionate care and I am disappointed that this feedback is not in line with the service we strive to provide.

I can confirm that the Head of Department for General Medicine will discuss your feedback at the next medical team meeting with a focus on communication emphasised to avoid similar incidents occurring again in the future.

This type of feedback is very beneficial for us to identify ways in which we can improve our services, but also highlights the great care our staff provide, so thank you.

Once again thank you again for taking the time to share your experience with our service and I wish you well in your recovery.

Kind regards,

Mary Ferrier
