I attended Kalgoorlie ED recently with my very young baby. When we went in there the baby scale wasn't working so I had to do the 'me stand on with my baby and then stand without them thing'. A week later my baby had their checkup with the child health nurse and there was a 2kg kilo difference (they were weighed on 2 different scales to make sure).
The baby scales weren't working in ED when my baby was admitted there when they were only a few weeks old either and there was just over a kilo difference between the ward and ED scales.
My concern is that for an adult that is nothing but for a baby, that 2kg difference is quite significant- especially when administering medication!
I need to be clear that my concern is in no way with staff in ED that we have seen, they are absolutely amazing, thorough and caring. More concerned that a baby may get hurt, causing unneeded stress to child, parents and staff.
