I was fortunate enough to have had both my children through MGP4 with Paula as my primary midwife.
My experience with MGP4 has been only positive and far surpassed any expectations I had. I felt nurtured and cared for both as a patient and as a person throughout pregnancy and birth. The midwives recognise the emotional needs of the mother and are with you as you transition from pregnancy, birth and postnatal life. Whilst still being vigilant of both the mother’s and baby’s health and development, the appointments felt relaxed and natural rather than clinical which allowed me to feel at ease throughout pregnancy and in preparing for birth.
I felt completely confident in the midwives’ skills and expertise in managing my pregnancies and births, especially knowing that if any major complications arose I would have access to KEMH’s excellent facilities. My midwife also presented me with all the information I needed to allow me to make informed decisions for both myself and my baby without pressure or prejudice.
Paula and the assisting midwives on the day did an incredible job of supporting and encouraging me throughout both my births and intuitively knew the right things to do. With my most recent birth, Paula and Liz were alongside me and my husband the entire time as I laboured in the bath and really empowered and guided me through the delivery of my baby.
The aftercare provided by the program both in-hospital and at home is fantastic and allows you the opportunity to take advantage of the midwives’ knowledge and experience to implement in the context and comfort of your own home.
I could not recommend MGP4 enough and would love to see more midwifery groups be made available so more women can have the same experience I did.
