"Long waiting list"

About: Bentley Hospital / Preadmission Clinic Royal Perth Hospital / Renal (Nephrology) & Urology & Endocrine Medicine & Ward 6A/6B/6C

(as the patient),

I have been on the waiting list for Urology Surgery since I was first seen, almost 2 years ago at RPH.

Early this year, I was called in for a Pre-Admission at which it was decided to give me a spinal injection instead of General Anaesthetic due to previous problems with intubating me (I was never given an exact reason why they had problems) which I had no problems with, however, no date was set for surgery.

Recently, I was called by Bentley Hospital to say my surgery had been transferred there and was scheduled for a week's time, to which I was surprised as I have had no communication since early this year. Anyway, I thought, OK no problems.

I was asked to come in for another Pre-Admission which I did, during this Pre-Admission I was told it might not be done at Bentley now as I believe they don't have the level of Dr's that RPH does, in case they have to give me a General. I have just received a call from Bentley to say my Surgery has been cancelled for this reason and I am back on RPH's list with no date given.

So I have been through 2 Pre-Admissions, wasting my valuable time, when all of the information regarding the complications of my previous intubation I believe was clearly marked on my file for all to read and yet it seems nobody has picked up on it before scheduling me at Bentley.

Since being told my surgery was next week, I have booked time off work and my child has booked time off to be able to pick me up and care for me after the surgery.

In my opinion, the word incompetent does not even come close to describing this debacle.
