Compassionate & Caring Staff

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / POWH Inpatient Palliative Care (Prince of Wales Hospital)

(as a relative),

Sadly, two weeks ago my Grandmother passed away on route to Prince of Wales Hospital (PoWH) Emergency Department. My elderly grandfather was taken care of by wonderful Nursing and Social Work staff until family members could arrive.

The staff were completely respectful and compassionate towards all members of the family and gave us whatever time we needed to be with my Grandmother. The following week we received a condolence card from the Social Worker at PoWH, Selena. Our family was completely moved at this act of kindness.

May I extend my condolences to you, your grandfather and family for your loss. I can only imagine how difficult the experience would have been for you all. I am proud that the staff in the Emergency Department treated you with compassion and respect allowing you precious time with your Grandmother and that the acts of kindness continued with you receiving a card from our Social Work department.

Thank you for taking the time to post your story, it is invaluable for our staff to received feedback from families' experiences. We will ensure your feedback is presented to the Nursing Staff in the Emergency Department and to Selena and the Social Worker team.
