(as a service user),

Being a heavily pregnant woman, having to spend 15 mins looking for a park at Broome Hospital WA and having to park almost 1km away and walk/waddle down for every appointment is so difficult and can make me late for appointments, as well as breathless and very uncomfortable. Would happily pay to park if I was at least guaranteed a park at the hospital.

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion regarding car parking availability at Broome Health Campus.

We’re so sorry that you are experiencing discomfort and inconvenience in having to walk quite a way to your appointments while you are heavily pregnant.

Unfortunately, we do have a shortage of car parks around the hospital at the moment and are exploring some strategies which we hope will help our patients and their families and carers. One of these is placing signs on specific car parking bays highlighting these as ‘patients only’. We are also commencing a campaign to encourage our staff to ride or carpool to work, which we anticipate will result in more car park bays being available.

This is a quick follow up to let you know that we have made “patient only “ parking parks at Broome Hospital.

We are still looking at other options to provide more parking bays for our patients, but this is the first step.
