"My time in the Day Procedure Unit"

The staff at Bunbury Regional Hospital were excellent. I felt they went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable during my stay. 

I feel that some day-to-day procedures could be done with more efficiency, e.g. I believe nurses need to know if patients are staying long term or short term so beds can be arranged. I feel that senior members of staff or CEOs need to spend time on the wards so that they can appreciate and understand some of the struggles the nurses go through every day.

Thank you sincerely for providing feedback on your recent experience at Bunbury Hospital Day Procedure Unit. I am pleased to hear that you were well looked after by our excellent staff and were made to feel comfortable during your stay.

I would also like to thank you for your comments relating to the day-to-day procedures, communication and efficiency which I can assure you are being reviewed. I recently commenced Operations Manager at the hospital and am committed to working on the floor and engaging with staff, patients and visitors to get an understanding of what needs to be improved to enhance the patient experience and our staff well being.

You may also be pleased to know that the WA Minister for Health on the 5th August 2020, announced the hospital is set for further redevelopment with additional funding, being a commitment of $60.8 million total investment to focus on improving priority clinical areas at the Bunbury Hospital. This will ensure residents of Bunbury and the South-West have access to a contemporary facility.

Dear jazzdk93,

As an update from your post and planned changes I mentioned, I wanted to let you know that Bunbury Hospital has appointed a new qualified and very experienced Nurse Manager of Surgical Services. We have also appointed a senior nurse who will provide oversight and support to the Day Surgery area to help improve the communication, efficiency and experience for patients having their procedures and the support to staff working in the area.
