"An emergency visit to Pemberton Hospital via St John Ambulance"

About: PathWest Pemberton Collection Centre Pemberton Hospital / Emergency Department St John Ambulance WA

(as the patient),

I gave my spouse a hell of a fright... they found me in bed not breathing and soaked through. They called 000 straight away to get an ambulance. My spouse was confused and frightened so our apologies for their yelling.

It takes a minimum 30 minutes to get an ambulance of volunteers in our small country town, so once my spouse knew it was on the way they calmed down and was a bit more aware and logical.

I was taken to Pemberton Hospital, very grateful it was close. They have such a small team of staff there and it can get quite hectic, but emergencies always come first.

My spouse was less stressed once the ambulance had picked me up and explained what was happening. The nurses did the same thing at the hospital which put my spouse at ease even more.

I was admitted and cared for overnight with regular obs, this made me feel safe. The next morning I received visits from the day team, on-call doctor, admin, clinical nurse, pathologist and of course the food tray. All friendly and helpful. Even though I do not want a repeat, everyone I came in contact with made it a lot easier on me but especially my spouse... thank you, everyone.
