"Kindness and professionalism"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / 1 East (Ophthalmology) Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a carer),

My spouse suffered acute, angle-closure glaucoma recently which was on a public holiday. Their eye pressure was 44mmHg and was in extreme pain and no sight in their left eye.

They were referred immediately to the Eye Hospital in Macquarie Street, Sydney. As it was a public holiday we had to present through the Emergency Department. Our experience was a pleasant one, in which all staff and Allied Health treated my spouse with humanity and professionalism.

Special thanks to Dr Julijana, who treated my spouse and immediately made us comfortable as her skills and knowledge regarding the issue made us reassured we were in good hands. At no time did we feel rushed or neglected.

While we we there as well, there were two, in my opinion, very challenging persons in the waiting room. Again, all the staff remained calm and professional.

Well done to all and a big thank you from us both.

Dear BamBam,

It is very gratifying to hear Dr Juliana was able to reassure you and your spouse during the Emergency visit recently. Thank you for sharing your experience and acknowledging Dr Juliana and the other staff.

Each day our staff are committed to person-centred, compassionate care in all circumstances. The staff will appreciate the praise and thanks. I will ensure they receive this.

All the best to your spouse continuing treatment for their glaucoma.

Regards,

Dr Pauline Rumma
