"Care at PCH Emergency"

About: Perth Children's Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

On a weekend, we had to make our first trip to PCH ED with our toddler. From the moment we arrived until we were discharged 4 hours later, the care was impeccable. This was our first trip (thankfully) to ED with our child and although the situation was frightening (multiple vomits after a head injury), the staff at PCH were all amazing.

Special thanks to:

- the RMO on duty who saw us in Fast-Track ED (didn't catch her name, unfortunately)

- David (CN) who first looked after us and did everything he could to relax our daughter

- Robin (RN) who almost succeeded in making our toddler smile with bubbles (no easy feat)

- Tim (RMO/Reg) who had a great bedside manner and excellent communication

- Laura (RN) who had such a wonderful, caring nature and made us feel calm in a stressful situation.

I truly felt like this was patient-centred care and want to applaud CAHS for building what I believe to be such a culture of caring and excellence. I am proud to have a hospital such as PCH in Perth.

Dear FirstTimeEDParent,

Thank you so much for sharing your fantastic comments and feedback. At Perth Children's Hospital, we aim to be respectful, kind, caring and professional in everything we do so it’s great to hear your positive feedback about our staff putting this into practice.

I will make sure to pass it on to all the staff involved and I know they will be very pleased to hear this.

I hope your toddler is recovering well and thank you once again for sharing your positive experience in what I understand can be a stressful experience for all involved.

Best wishes,

Michael Baker
