I recently made use of the free bowel cancer test kit that came in the mail. I've been doing them for several years now & always had the letter back from the Bowel Scan folk a couple of weeks later to say all's good, nothing to see here.
But this year was different & the letter said my results showed blood so I visited my Nurse Practitioner & got a referral to see Dr Naseem at BCH to arrange a colonoscopy. Booked in and done recently. Had that and another procedure in the same "area" that was found during my initial examination so bonus for me before it became an issue.
I've had a lot of surgery over the last 10 years. Some's gone well some not so well. Not due to any failure of my various surgeon's but due to my body's reaction to some types of surgery & as a result I find hospitals a little intimidating & visits nerve-racking these days but I certainly had nothing to worry about at Wonthaggi Hospital.
From my arrival at the Security check-in where Mick was cheerfully taking care of business, to the moment I headed home in the arvo, I felt I was in the best of care. Every interaction I had with a staff member of BCH was a pleasure. All staff showed the highest level of professionalism & were so caring & respectful. Everyone was cheerful & reassuring, & I felt so at ease when I hit theatre that everything went perfectly.
I felt Dr Naseem was fantastic & how lucky are we to have such a renowned expert from another major hospital being a regular surgeon at our hospital. Our nurses are second to none as are all the support staff & to all of you I send my warmest wishes & gratitude.
