"Had to walk out of Emergency Department"

Unfortunately, I feel I received very poor care from the staff at Bridgetown hospital recently. I arrived at the hospital after having completed a positive pregnancy test while having a Nexplanon implant and vaginal bleeding. I was left waiting for over three hours and eventually had to leave without being seen due to having no one at home to care for my child. I will have to make alternative arrangements for my healthcare which has made me feel very anxious and just generally disappointed.

Dear implanon and pregnant,

Thank you for taking the time to write to us and for taking Helen Stuart, Clinical Nurse Manager’s call. I am sorry that you had to return home without being treated as you had no one at home to care for your child.

Waiting a long time when coming to an emergency department can be stressful and was a worrying time for you, especially as you were unsure of your medical condition at that time or any possible implications.

As discussed with Helen, if you are concerned regarding care being received at Bridgetown Hospital, please don’t hesitate to ask to speak to the nurse in charge at the time and if still concerned and feel that you have not had an appropriate response, please phone Care Call 1800 744 059. If you need to access a phone, please speak to the staff. An executive member of WACHS-SW will listen to your concerns and follow them up.
