"Fear mongering"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as other),

All throughout my spouse's pregnancy, every single appointment we had with the blue team at King Edwards Memorial Hospital contained talk about death, permanent physical or mental impairment including what I felt was disrespectful talk about being irresponsible parents for not following the doctor's advice for a C-section even though I believe every single study found outlined the contrary.

In my opinion, the wait times at the hospital is disgusting. My spouse's waters broke at 28 weeks and she went on to 32 weeks before giving birth. She would have an ultrasound once a week, an ECG and a meeting with the doctors and these 3 appointments would see us sitting around for a minimum of 6 hours. In my opinion, who makes a pregnant woman that was dilated 3cm for 4 weeks sitting around in a waiting room for that long.

The fear-mongering I believe was in that hospital was, I feel, disgusting and disrespectful. My spouse and I are strong educated people so we are, I feel, able to push the facts onto the doctors and my wife ended up going into spontaneous labour and birth naturally.

I hope this post gets some traction and the blue team take a long hard look at themselves if they want to continue in this line of work. I believe decorum goes a long way when you are involved in the most emotional exciting time in a mother and father's life.
