"Powerless"

About: Bethesda Hospital

(as the patient),

I was having a skin cancer removed from my face.

I felt the doctor was rude to one of the staff members and told them off in front of me.

I believe the doctor didn't listen to me when I told them that I needed more anaesthetic than most people and was, in my opinion, dismissive and then proceeded to cut my head and I could feel it. I felt like the doctor ignored the fact that they had a person on the table in front of me and not a cadavre.

Dear pagerpq87,

I am very sorry to hear about your experience and that you felt your surgeon did not listen to you. I apologise you felt ignored, and sincerely hope that the care our Bethesda nurses and staff provided met your expectations.

As a private hospital, Bethesda does not employee the surgeons who operate here, however, we believe incidents such as yours should be passed onto them to assist them to improve their patients' experience.

It is important that your surgeon hears your feedback and I would encourage you to phone me directly on 9340 6300 to discuss the matter so I can contact your surgeon on your behalf and investigate this incident.

Kind regards,

Deborah Bell

Executive Manager Clinical Services
