Earlier in the year, ED staff assisted me in being tested for Covid 19. I tested positive and isolated at home. I was extremely concerned about returning to my community - Dr Cherelle came to my home and discussed the process at length with me.
After a period of time and several GP visits, I felt I had not recovered - I contacted Dr Cherelle and she arranged for some tests to be done. It was found I had blood clots on my lungs from Covid. The staff - nurses and doctors in the ED and radiology were so caring and treated me with such dignity and genuine concern for me. There was so much reassurance that I would be okay. Dr Cherelle arranged for some more tests to be done when I was in Perth.
I had another setback and attended ED - again the staff cared for me and treated me with such dignity. I was admitted to the ward for 4 days. All staff on the ward that attended to me were amazing. I cannot thank them enough for the treatment and genuine concern for my health.
I recently attended outpatients for a procedure and the staff at the reception area were efficient and explained the processes required for treatment. I felt the nurse attending me considered my privacy and again was treated with dignity and genuine concern.
I cannot thank Dr Cherelle and her team of doctors enough.
I believe other covid long-haul patients around Australia are not receiving the same level of care that I have in Karratha and Royal Perth Hospital, in my opinion.
