"Consult with surgeon and nurse"

About: Telehealth Service - WACHS Great Southern

(as the patient),

It felt good, the comfort of receiving information in Albany, whereas previously, I would have had to have gone to Perth.

I had appointments with 3 medical professionals - a surgeon, a nurse and a physiotherapist.

The consult lasted an hour and in my opinion, was very sustainable as far as travel costs and general efficiency were concerned.

My only complaint is I had to wait an hour from my scheduled appointment.

Dear snowsy37,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us about the telehealth service in Albany. It is good to know that you were able to access your appointments via telehealth without the need to travel.

Although it is not always possible for the regional telehealth staff to be aware of metropolitan health service clinic appointment delays, we are continuing to work with our metro colleagues to help identify ways to improve communication with their telehealth patients.

You might be pleased to know that WA Country Health Services Statewide Telehealth Service is developing a new technical solution for 2021. This will include a virtual waiting room which will allow health staff to see when the patient arrives; making it a little easier to communicate with them when there are unexpected delays and improving the experience of accessing health services via telehealth.

Kind regards

Juan Clark
