"Treatment in paeds"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Neonatology, Paediatrics & Ward 3A

(as a parent/guardian),

My infant was admitted to the paediatric ward after 9hrs in the ED. In my opinion, it was a horrible experience all around. I believe it took 20 goes to get their IV in (I felt that was too many attempts made before calling an anaesthetist who got it in 1 go).

My child is an infant and I got mixed advice on how they could sleep. Seemed to not give any care for my health and mental well-being in paediatric, in my opinion, bullying me into how my child should sleep and then literally repeating themselves over and over until I finally cut one of them off and said I didn't need their story and didn't need to be told the same thing 100 times.

My child is in as a private patient but honestly, it seems that means nothing. There was only food for them (they were not eating and only breastfeeding so luckily I get their food).

Did a COVID test after we were in ED for 9hrs, so that meant my spouse couldn't be with us until later the following day. This means I got basically no sleep over multiple days but they didn't seem to care or offer help or advice.

Next time I'd prefer to pay the small free and go to a different hospital as I feel like the service and care will be much greater.
