I took my young child to Bridgetown hospital late last year with severe headache, neck pain and light sensitivity. They kept my child in for a couple of hours and sent them home with after giving them Panadol saying it was a virus.
I bought my child back in 3 hours later as their pain was severe and Panadol wasn't working. I believe the doctor refused to see my child even though they were on call and told the nurse to send me home. I told the nurse I was worried as Panadol wasn't working.
The nurse shoved, I felt, a paper in my face and said it's a virus as that's what blood tests say. They said a fever in the high 38 wasn't dangerous and to go home. 2 hours later I rushed my child to a different hospital where they were admitted as they were in acute pain with severe viral meningitis.
I don't care if a child has a virus or it's bacterial, if pain cannot be managed with Panadol at home and the child is in distress, I believe they need to have medical attention. In my opinion, it's not the first time this doctor has shown themselves to be incompetent.
