I have been struggling with having drips being put in for a while. I have a panic attack and need them out. I start sweating, crying, can’t stand up, typical panic attack. I do not know why, I wish it didn’t happen but unfortunately it has a hold on me.
I have been to the ED with multiple complaints of a migraine over a period of two weeks. The most recent presentation I had another panic attack after a drip was placed in my hand with simple Panadol. I asked for it to be removed, I explained what I was feeling. I feel I was very clear that I was having a panic attack and I think the staff became very disappointed in me. In my opinion, they were rude and arrogant.
I believe the Dr / nurse didn’t want to help anymore all because I asked for the drip to be taken out.
Surely there is an alternative for someone who is not capable of having a drip in?
This person had mentioned a medication plan, a print out of my CT Scan, GP letter. All wasn’t done after I asked for the drip to come out.
"Unsympathetic staff following panic attack over drip."
