"Prince of Wales Infectious Disease Ward, Coronary Care and Cardiology ward"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / DB3 - Coronary Care Unit (CCU) Prince of Wales Hospital / DB3N - Cardiology Ward Prince of Wales Hospital / DB4 - Respiratory Medicine and Infectious Diseases Ward

(as a relative),

My mum received life-saving care in the hands of the teams of these wards. The staff were so attentive and supportive.

My mum’s most vulnerable time was when she was in CCU and she was cared for by highly experienced and yet humble staff. They effectively supported me, her carer, as well. 

The Cardiology ward staff listened carefully to her needs and to my feedback, even though they are evidently constantly working at a fast pace. This saved my mother’s life a second time as they picked up an emerging pneumonia and treated it quickly.

My mother is NESB.

All this was even more amazing because in ED I was told she only had 3 days to live and that her heart was going to suddenly stop. Yet my mum was home for Christmas and had lunch with her young grandchildren, son in-law and me.

We are extremely pleased to read your kind words of thanks and your gratitude for the support and compassion that your mother and yourself experienced during your hospital stay.

An unexpected hospital admission is often a very stressful time for patients and families. We are impressed to read that your mother's care was responsive to clinical needs, personalised and family centred. Effective communication is vital to ensure that all aspects of care are understood by both the patient and their relatives. Your feedback has outlined how effective communication and supportive clinical care can make a difference in helping to support your mother's recovery.

Thank you Barbara. My only problem is that my words are insufficient when thinking of the phenomenal difference the staff made to my mum and to our family. Thank you for your rich response, it was much appreciated.
