"Urology machine for kidney stones"

About: Prince of Wales Hospital / ASB 5S - Orthopaedics Ward

(as the patient),

After 5+ visits to the Urology Department I was advised that the specific machine that breaks down kidney stones will no longer be repaired in the event it ceases functioning. As someone who suffers from kidney stones every few years, I believe this has been the only way I can avoid surgery. I am very disappointed to learn this. I feel this is very poor form of the hospital to allow this to happen.

Dear eaglehs49,

Thank you for your feedback regarding the Lithotripsy service provided by our Urology department at Prince of Wales. We are glad that this service has provided effective treatment for your Kidney stones. A review of modalities to treat Kidney stones as part of the Urology service is being undertaken so that safe and effective care can continue to be provided to our patients in the future.

Regards,

Andrew Maxwell
