Attending Lives Lived Well was absolutely one of the better choices I have made during the last five years. It's easy to make bad choices and since my partner asked me for a divorce five years ago I have made plenty of those.
Being someone who didn't believe in any form of counselling or prescribed medication I spent five years alone struggling to get by in a life that only seemed to be getting worse. Believing that time would eventually heal the pain I persisted with my own kind of therapy to get by.
Substance abuse and withdrawing from any kind of social interaction appeared to me to be the best kind of therapy. It sounds crazy now but at the time I wasn't willing to listen to anything else other than my own negative thoughts. Of course, it was never going to last, sooner or later everything was going to come crashing down and it did. If only I had realised that dealing with my problems all alone would never work. Maybe then I could have prevented the problems that it led to.
After being released from hospital it was recommended that I enrol in a three-week course run by Lives Lived Well to learn a better way to deal with life's challenges. I reluctantly followed this advice and enrolled.
At first I wasn't too sure about it, it was just so foreign to anything I had done in the past. It only took two days and I thought maybe this will help so I started to participate and for the first time took help seriously. The team at Lives Lived Well explained things in a way that made sense to me which was great. Even better though they actually cared on a personal yet professional level.
I can strongly recommend Lives Lived Well to anyone who genuinely wants to bring about positive change in their life. I hope that like me you will find that having this kind of support makes such a difference than trying to deal with things yourself. It's only been one week now since I finished the course am I am feeling so much better than I did when I first began. This is thanks to course itself, the personal counselling and the advice given on what to do when the course finished.
I am currently taking anti-depressants and receiving ongoing support from a mental health plan. I can absolutely honestly say that I feel so much better, I really do. For the first time since the separation from my partner, I feel content. I really don't know how but somehow it worked. My hope is that someone who is suffering alone like I was reads this and decides to give it a go.
