About: Lives Lived Well – Elouera Women’s Residential (Orange)

(as a service user),

Started in childhood trauma, that when I realised the world was not going to be a nice, easy place to live.

I started smoking cigarettes' and smoking Cannabis when I was a teenager which led to Alcohol. Started going out, starting going to pubs at a young age, the alcohol made me feel good at the time, thought it was fun .

Then, as a teenager, I was introduced to speed by older people. I was in an unhappy marriage, had two children by as a young adult, got divorced 3 years later, than starting using Heroin and party drugs. I had my third child a few years after my divorce and that's when I realised I had a problem with alcohol.

I have had an on and off history with drug and alcohol abuse until I got in trouble with the law, really hit rock bottom and thought I was going to die. With the help of Drug & Alcohol counselling, I got in touch with the Elouera Women's program.

Once starting the Elouera program I never realised how much I really wanted recovery until starting my journey at Elouera . The staff at Elouera are more than just workers, they really care about our lives and our recovery. The Elouera staff ROCK. I have never been surrounded by so much support and care than here at Elouera. 

I have completed the Elouera program and I am looking forward to a bright, positive future, by also helping others in the future.

Well done in articulating your story. Childhood trauma and an early introduction to alcohol and drugs is a difficult thing to address and it sounds like you have made the decision and are doing very well. We are pleased that you found Elouera a safe and supportive place to overcome deep and long-lasting issues.

The staff at Elouera do rock - and their dedication to each and every client does not go unnoticed.:)

It sounds like you are travelling well and I wish you all the best for a happy and long life. There is always support available if you feel you need additional 'care' from our staff - just call if you need them.
