"I was in safe hands"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

Irene irrigated eyelash dye from my eyes that had been causing serious irritation and in doing so, relieved the pain immediately.

This is significant, as I had previously seen my GP who prescribed eye drops but failed to remove the irritant which ensured that my eyes became more and more irritated until I decided to attend the Eye hospital.

Irene’s medical knowledge and caring and cheeky demeanour made my 4 hour visit on a weekend night almost bearable.

The work of the intern and Registrar checking my eyes was thorough and I felt at all times that I was in safe hands.

We are very lucky to have this level of care and expertise and the fact that Irene is still working at her age was impressive.

Dear lionwb98,

Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge nurse Irene and the doctors who treated you in the Emergency Department. We strive to create a compassionate and safe environment within the department, which in turn has a positive impact on our patients and in your case, this is very evident. I will take great pleasure in sharing with Irene and the staff.

I hope that you are recovering well.

Kind regards

Alan
