"Pre-Admission to Royal Perth Hospital"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Pre Anaesthetic Assessment Clinic

(as the patient),

Attended RPH for an upcoming operation. I'm a typical adult male that won't see a Dr unless I'm dying - terrified of hospitals, procedures and especially needles. I'm only going thru with this out of necessity.

I have to say that my short stay of 2 hrs went very well, far better than expected. The whole terrifying ordeal for me, (and this is only pre-admission), left me feeling still worried but comfortable to proceed with the procedures.

The staff were extremely efficient, very, very understanding and completely sympathetic to my condition and phobias, and the 3 professionals I saw were exceptional. I have to thank the lady nurse who's originally from the UK, you know who you are, you were absolutely b****y brilliant!

I figured at first glance you might be what I feel is the typical nurse (short sharp and to the point, now go I've other patients to see) but how wrong I was...she was a breath of fresh air, beautiful personality, comical, understanding and the whole 20 min consultation was spent swapping stories and almost rolling about the floor laughing. Made me feel so much more relaxed and upon leaving she turned to me and said" you've made my day".

I believe this nurse is a credit to Royal Perth Hospital and our Perth-based medical staff. I only wished she would be my nurse when I go under the knife.

Dear Snowy069,

Thank you for this wonderful feedback. It is valuable for us to get such detailed responses about what was good about our services and how this assisted you.

I am delighted to hear the staff were able to provide you with understanding and sensitivity regarding your condition and phobias, all while providing an efficient service in a busy environment.

I have passed on your message of thanks to the pre-admission leaders to share with their team and in particular, the nurse who displayed humour and understanding during an anxious time.

I wish you all the best in your upcoming procedure.

Kind regards,

Dr Lesley Bennett
