"The cafe"

About: Lyell McEwin Hospital

(as the patient),

I spent much of the day at the Lyell McEwin having tests in the Nuclear Medicine department. During the course of the day, I used the cafe for two periods of 20 minutes and was very surprised at the lack of what I felt was COVID awareness.

I noticed that when I entered the hospital there was a small team asking anybody that wanted to enter the hospital all the usual questions. I also noticed that I had to register the QR code at least three times before getting to my ultimate destination.

However, what really surprised me about the cafe was that there was a limited number of tables and chairs and the turnover of patrons was quite high, quite often there were customers waiting for tables to be vacated, as a result of this patrons were vacating their tables, and it appeared new patrons immediately took up the vacant tables. Not once did I see a member of staff out cleaning the tables. Surely, in my opinion, this should be done as soon as a table is vacated in the interests of good hygiene at any time and in these times with the COVID pandemic, it would be even more important
