"WACHS positive caesarean course"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Maternity

(as a service user),

I attended the Positive Caesarean course run by WACHS. I appreciated being able to attend this course for free through WACHS at a convenient time after work so my partner could listen in.

The course gave me a good understanding of what happens in a c-section operation, we saw examples of positive c-section births and were provided with some options for birth preferences. This made me feel well equipped to navigate a c-section if I need one and make it a beautiful birth and not just a surgery.

Dear South West first time mum,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback to Care Opinion. The arrival of a baby, regardless of method, should always be celebrated as the amazing event that it is. As you say ... it should never be considered as "just a surgery" but as a beautiful birth.

We are working really hard at Bunbury to change the culture around a c-section, with all members of our team; Doctors, midwives, nurses all getting on board to provide a positive experience and support families during their birth in theatre.

I am pleased that you found the classes to be informative and have given you and your partner an understanding of the processes involved. I wish you all the best for the remainder of your pregnancy journey and birth. Take care.
