"Support to live without alcohol"

About: Biala City Community Health Centre Lives Lived Well - Woolloongabba Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital / Hospital Alcohol and Drug Service (HADS)

(as a service user),

After trying to detox on my own with some support at home and failing, my family and friends were at a loss. My life and drinking were out of control. I had lost friends, family, my children, my licence and was on the way to losing my job and career in healthcare.

My partner took me home to family and the supports I had left were adamant that I needed to go to detox. Reluctantly, I booked into HADS for detox. This began a journey that opened my eyes to the fact that I needed support to overcome alcohol addiction and support to live life well.

Detox at the Royal Brisbane was challenging but a stepping stone to continued support through AA, Day Rehabilitation at Lives Lived Well at Woolloongabba and counselling at Biala.

Hello cepheusks85,

Thanks for telling us your story and your experiences with several organisations along the way. As you gain understanding of yourself you can then take the next step and that seemingly has been your experience. Well done for persisting and finding the path that is right for you.

I will pass your comments on to the Lives Lived Well team at the Woolloongabba Day Rehab.

I wish you all the best in your next steps.

Warm regards

Gerard
