When writing this story, we were four hours into waiting to be seen at PCH. The first two hours were spent sitting on the floor as there was nowhere to sit, nowhere! There was zero communication from any staff.
Guess what my first talkback topic will be at work tomorrow. So bloody frustrating that there I was with my child, and the wait times have still not been addressed.
Many years ago at PMH, we waited for 8 hours. 8 hours during a viral outbreak to be seen. The head of the department and PR people at the time came to apologise to me after I had been sitting in the ED Department for so long. While I accepted their apology and explanation that they had been overwhelmed, I suggested they may like to apologise to the patient I was sitting next to who had been sitting with their vomiting child for 8 and a half hours.
Nothing has changed.
